Tyco Will Replace Smith Intl. On S&P 500 Index

Standard & Poor’s will make the following changes to the S&P 500. Tyco International (NYSE:TYC) will replace Smith Intl. Inc. (NYSE:SII) in the S&P 500 after the close of trading on August 26, 2010. S&P 100 & 500 constituent Schlumberger Ltd. (NYSE:SLB) is acquiring Smith Intl. in a deal expected to be completed on or about that date, pending final approvals.
Tyco International is a leading provider of security products and services, fire protection and detection products and services, valves and controls, and other industrial products. Headquartered in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, the company will be added to the S&P 500 GICS (Global Industry Classification Standard) Industrial Conglomerates Sub-Industry index.
